    Mille Miglia!

Just got back from running the D type and C type on the historic Mille Miglia!
I am knackered! Never done anything so exhausting! Took wab with me to navigate and help look after the cars. He did a great job.
Jaguar gave us a new XJ L to use as support car. They are not out yet and turned alot of heads! Very impressive cars. Thrashed it for most of the 1000 miles following the race cars on the same route. Four hours kip in forty eight hours is not something I will do again!
The Italians are mental! The coppers let the support cars go as fast they want! takes some getting your head around passing Polizia Alfas doing 80 mph with their blues on in a huge Jag doing 140!
Tom Ford from fifth gear was in the Jag team and was a nice fella to have a beer with. He was doing the event for Top Gear mag. Jay Kye was there in a Maserati, Coultard/Hakinen in a 300 sl gull wing.
Got a few pics I'll get up when I have recovered.. bet wab puts up his Jay kye pic!
Handed the XJ back and was told its off for scrapping! Its a pre poduction car and cannot be sold. Shame, I offered them £5k for it anyway. Must be two tonne and 0-60 in 6 secs V6 3.0 diesel twin turbo and 40 mpg! We used most fuel.. as you'd expect! three tanks in 1000 miles is still amaizing when it was flat out accelerating or hard on the brakes for three days.
    Tired......

          How small is this world!

Were you the young one out the heritage team?

Forgive me for not remembering your name, too much went on in such a short time!

No way will I be doing that again! (well only for lots of money).

One of your lot left their tools in an XJ...

Sounds awesome dude, a freind of mine Sarah did it a few years ago with that James Martin chef bloke in his stupidly expensive Maserati A6GCS (until it dropped a valve), they made it into a documentary but tbh, he came across as a bit of a ****!

That sounds fantastic rob. How on earth do you get into doing something like that?

DarrenM - Think i saw that documentry, was a shame he didnt get to finish. From memory he was pretty upset? (understandably).

Couldn't agree more! I watched that programme and he came across as a spoiled child with too much money half the time. How many of us would love to do that???

                        Cheers,
