I love the yellow discs, the others are just crazy dangerous.

I have a real beauty of a boost hose bodge done by myself that I'll post a pic of tomorrow.

The yellow discs are just ludicrous, imagine going out to bed in the brakes with those

If you ever want to kill the missus...

Use Spray Jiff Mousse as alloy wheel cleaner. Wheels look a treat, but the mousse leaves an invisible film over the disc. Found that out, much to my better halves delight quite few years ago. She's never forgiven me for nearly killing her, and she was in the Ur too.

Has anyone else thought that the washers bodge in the first pic could actually just be a mock up to work out the size of a carrier?

yes i did. its an easy way to measure distance for sure.

must say ive seen it done where washers are used to space gaps on brakes. even 2 or 3 is a weakness.

I thought that too, but look at how little of the pad actually cover the disc too...

but the caliper is as far on as it can go.

maybe boxter calipers on 400mm discs lol.

                    Boost Hose Bodge

Passat TDI was loosing boost so I discovered that this short section of hose after the turbo was split in the middle. 3 days for the stealer to get me a new one so I took it off and wrapped it with about 15 layers of Duct tape. Lasted 6 weeks. Proper hose going on tomorrow.

I think what's causing the hose to split is a worn gearbox mount which is allowing the engine gerbox assembly to move too much.

THE best bodge I ever saw was in Killarney at the rally one year... there was a super spidey shed of some sort - can't even remember if was a twincam corolla or a dressed up scooby of some sort - the guy had made a rear 'spoiler' from three bits of wood. The main piece was almost two inches thick - it was truly hilarious but I have no photographic proof.

Other memorable bodges include using a piece of string routed thru a window as get home measure for a broken throttle cable.

Wiring bodges concern me the most - they usually involve scotchloks

No scotchloks, but I remember when I was young, the main HT lead failed in our car, and dad used a fresh twig stuck from the coil to distributor, to get us home.

Lived opposite a guy who spent weeks giving his escort cabriolet a full respray using spray cans from Halfords!

I wish I'd got pictures, it looked awful!

Legendary fix there... obviously your Dad was skilled in the art of selecting a twig that had suitable electrical properties for the conduction of high voltages !!!!
