Permanent exporting a UK car to EU mainland

    Hi,

I have just been reading some documents (http://www.dft.gov.uk/dvla/forms/~/m...ts/INS160.ashx on the DVLA website regarding export of a second hand UK car. There are some procedures using export plates and registration at DVLA offices. Anyone BTDT?

I found also in those documents the following section regarding permanent export:

4 Telling us about a permanent export
    If.you.are.taking.your.vehicle.abroad.(including.t he.Isle.of.Man.or.the.Channel.
    Islands).for.more.than.12.months,.this.is.consider ed.to.be.a.permanent.export..
    In.this.situation.you.must.ill.in.section.11.of.th e.V5C.with:
    •. the.date.of.export;.and.
    •. sign.and.date.the.declaration.
Note − filling in this section will not produce an export certiicate.
The V5C replaces the need for a separate export certiicate.
    Send.section.11.to.us.at.DVLA,.Swansea,.SA99.1BD.. Keep.sections.1.to.8.of.
    the.V5C.to.take.with.you.when.you.take.the.vehicle .abroad..You.can.use.these.
    sections.to.register.your.vehicle.abroad..Get.rid. of.sections.9.and.10.securely.

I wondered what papers I would need to register the car in the Netherlands? Only the V5C paper with my name on it as mentioned above?

All-in-all it seems easiest just to come with a trailer and pick it up

shouldn't be to hard to drive the car back. A friend of mine picked up a Skyline R33 from Ireland and drove it back to The Netherlands with the Irish plates on. Insured the car on the VIN.

It's the sellers job to fill out the paperwork. You can collect the car and drive it home, no problem. You have to sign the paperwork to take ownership and the seller does the rest. Insured on the vin number seems like a good idea. Don't get caught speeding.
