    Some Noob questions?

Ok lads, how about helping out a noob? Heres a few questions for you.

Where are the VIN plates located on an S2? I looked around on s2central etc, but can only find references to a sticker in the handbook, but surely that cant be it.

    Whats a "Stroker"?

How much difference will having an S2 chipped to say about 280hp(seems a popular figure) make to the MPG, when your not booting it i mean?

Whats with all the codes and acronyms? I've got my head around 3B and ABY and UR, but sometimes it seems like you lot have your own language, aan, B3,B4, A2, ARB, etc etc

I'm sure i have many more equally dumb questions but I cant think of them right now.

    Cheers

Usually better MPG if driving normally

AAN is engine out of UrS4 and S6 ,3B is the first engine that went into S2 has 1 coil and distributor, 5 gears ,ABY is the newer model S2 coilpacks and 6 gears , UR is the Original , B3 /B4 is model of Coupes ..ARB anti roll bar

I'm sure i have many more equally dumb questions but I cant think of them right now.

On the ABY its located through the windscreen, passenger side. Other locations are in the boot and behind the dash.

Stoker, i think, is the name given to the use of a diesel 2.5tdi 5cyl block and reinforced crank, complete engine rebuild. (not as revvy as the standard engine due to longer stroke hence the term Stroker ?..

      B3/B4 > http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showpos...33&postcount=7

Refers to chassis type, because the S2 coupe is based on the earlier chassis its a B3, but with B4 wings and bonnet. All S2 Avants /RS2 are B4 based, and the B5 was the first of the audi A4.

ABY/AAN/ADU are engine types with S2/urS6/RS2 respectively. very similar engines.

ARB Anti roll bar, RARB Rear.

At the base of the windscreen on the nearside.

        Whats a "Stroker"?

Every engine has a bore - the diameter of the piston and a stroke - the distance the piston goes up and down. The combination of the two gives you the swept volume which multiplied by the number of pistons gives you the capacity of the engine.

A stroker is an engine where the capacity has been increased by using a crankshaft that has a longer stroke. Normal 5 cylinder capacity is close to 2.2 litres. A stroker as talked about on here is 2.5 litres and is based on a diesel engine block & crank Audi happened to make which can be used to give you a petrol engine that will give you more torque than standard.

How much difference will having an S2 chipped to say about 280hp(seems a popular figure) make to the MPG, when your not booting it i mean?

Very much depends on the chips and what they've done to increase the bhp output. If you fit Homefries you'll actually see an improvement in MPG of around 2 mpg.

Whats with all the codes and acronyms? I've got my head around 3B and ABY and UR, but sometimes it seems like you lot have your own language, aan, B3,B4, A2, ARB, etc etc

AAN is a version of the ABY engine fitted to the S6 with different inlet tract, radiator and position for alternator, A/C compressor all driven by a multi-rib belt.

B3 and B4 are Audi terms for the platforms that the various Audi 80 & 90, saloon, coupe & Avant cars were built on. The search function on here is your friend to find more detail.

Technically, the ABY is version of the AAN. The AAN followed the 3B and was introduced in the UrS4 in the 1992 Model Year (MY). The ABY was first installed in the S2 in the 1993 MY. The AAN was used in both the UrS4 and the UrS6.
