big mileage - engine and clutch life

    hi guys,
considering looking at a decently priced s2 avant tommorow.

only isue with it in my mind is the mileage: 220,000.

again, this wouldnt worry me, but its on the original clutch. Speaking to the owner its only really done motorway mileage, however, i do tend to 'use' cars a bit harder than that (ring trip in a few months again!). I know how much of an expensive pig a clutch change is on an s2. Im pretty spanner handy but dont really fancy doing it myself tbh

    This is the car:

I wouldn't worry about the mileage too much, but a change in driving style is likely to show up any issues with a clutch that must be well past its use by date. It's inevitable that the clutch will need to be replaced at some time and it's likely to be done by the next owner of the car. If it's a good price, factor in a clutch change during the first year of ownership. It's not such a bad job and can be done on your own easily in a day.
