    Fitting boost gauge

    Hey guys

just got a boost gauge and mount for airvents. Is there any tips or guides of where to pick up the power for the light or where and how to run the pipe to the engine bay and what to attach it to?

Cheers in advance for any help

Power for the light can be taken from one of the switches below, or I wired mine to the glove box light.
If you use a switch, make sure you get a wire that's switched via your headlights, so it comes on with switching your headlamps on. Glove box light only gets power when the headlamps turn on anyway.

There's a handy little hole in the bottom left corner behind the furthest left vent, you can route your wiring and your vac line down there.
The vac line just route from there down to the passenger footwell and T into the vac line that goes to the ECU.

Ok so gauge is in and sitting in the centre vents nearest to the steering wheel. Does anybody else have the problem that the centre vents are now constantly open and you can't shut them with the twiddly thing on the right? Is there a wayaround this problem apart from not putting in the gauge

It will depend on what type of gauge you have and what part of the gauge stops the flap from closing. It may be unavoidable without cutting off part of the flap which shuts the airflow off.
With a vdo gauge (in the centre vent) it was the bulb holder which stopped the flap from closing but after I replaced the bulb with LEDs, which didn't protrude past the back of the gauge body, the flap misses the gauge and works fine.

Cheers unfortunately however it is the vacuum hose. I may try the cutting the flap technique to have a slim line through it for the hose to travel through on open and close.

My vac hose comes out of the bottom of the vent and with a 90 degree elbow just behind the gauge it manages to miss the flap too. But this is with the gauge centred (from top to bottom) in the vent. If it was towards the top of the vent like some of the mounting plates avilable it would interfere too.

My old gauge allowed the flap to close but the OEM VDU gauges do not.

I removed my flap 2 years ago and have not missed it - after all, you set the temp to what you want and the air flow to where you want. If you want the face vents on but not in your eyes, moving the vents to blow between the front seats works but I just toggle between warm air to the screen in the winter and cold air to the face in the summer .....simples

                Cheers n
