    Golf Mk2 Brake Upgrade...

I know its not an Audi S2 etc But I know many of you have owned MK2's in the past and have done many upgrades etc, so I am gonna pick your brains...

I am looking at doing a brake upgrade on my Mk2 Golf....

Rears; I am looking at fitting Mk3 Calipers and new discs & bearings etc... So no major issues there...

Fronts; I have been talking to Kev Bambridge about making a bracket to suit the MK2 using Porsche/Brembo 996 Rear Calipers as I always seem to have a few sets spare when I buy complete sets from the states etc...

So What I need to know is what size discs can I fit to stay with the 15" BBS RA's and the 4 x 100 PCD...

I have read that you can fit 304mm discs... but I wondered if anyone had some info they would like to share...

    Thanks guys...

Why not fit your old S2 calipers?...They're the 'normal' Golf upgrade. Porsche might be a bit OTT for a standard engine Golf.

You can use 280mm G60 or you can use a 305mm ibiza cupra disc. Which came with 4 pot Brembos as standard and are 4x100 pcd. They fit them to Golf Rallyes all the time. The 305mm discs and 4 pot calipers will fit behind a 15" compomotive wheel. I doubt they will fit behind a 15" BBS though but you can only try.

Check out vauxhall discs, they can be got in 288x25 and ISTR something about the hub bore being same and offset being very similar to that on golfs along with the 4x100 pattern

Would like to see those alloys on a MK2 Golf...

I keep looking for a set of BBS RM's but they fetch silly money here, so looking at other options...

You mean like these's. This was my Mk2 and I miss it like hell sometimes. Went like stink too.

As you can see I had the wrong tyre size on, they could have done with a little strech

Like the front wing vents, but not so sure about the lack of trims & skirts....

It had a 2.9VR6 fitted it was 184bhp @ the wheels. The wing vent is a transporter vent. I went with met black because they are a pain to keep clean, the colour is MG night fire red. It had full recaro trim with a Corrardo rear seat to match as well.

                        Anyone??? Mk4 Rears

Took the Lady for her yearly check up and she passed with flying colours... In fact the tester was more interested in talking about my car than he was in testing her... He did do the full test but it took him an hour and a half as he was quiet at the time...

The only issue that came to light was the rear brakes.. The calipers are suffering the usual falling that they are beginning to seize... Anyway I have read on a few threads about using Mk3 calipers and Std MK2 discs etc...

But I have also just found a thread about using Mk4 calipers which are made from an alloy so weigh less... Anyone got any more info on doing this??

Yeah I had the Mk4 rear calipers on mine with the S2 twin pots. You only need the calipers as you use the standard carriers. Only other thing you need is Mk4 to Mk2 hoses which you can get from C&R Enterprise at £26(they were when I bought them)

Our lass's dads shop. I got genuine brand new Mk4 rear calipers for £150 but you have to exchange your old ones but I sent my Mk2 rear instead of Mk4sOh and genuine pads as well. If I was you I'd look for a Mk4 been broken on eBay or on the VW forums for a set. Oh and C&R are the only place that sells the hoses as the guy who owns it thought of the idea, plus they are stainless steel braided goodridge hoses.
