just bought an A4 (for the mrs..)

finally weened the mrs off ford's and given her the first taste of audi ownership.

    bought an a4 1.8 20valve with 170k (FSH-runs sweet!!) for £350 !!!
    12 months mot 3 months tax.....well chuffed.

    anywayonly 2 faults:

    fuel gauge not working
    central locking not working

managed to source new fuel sender unit, but does anyone know where on an A4 the central locking pump is? Is it like an S2, as in on the rear right hand side of the car?

central locking unit is at the bottom of the rear wing on driverside, pull back the trim panel and it is contained inside a green foam case.If you can hear a motor noise for 20-30 seconds when keyfob is pressed/key is turned in lock then the impeller has shattered on the motor or very rarely you may have a leak in the airpipes around the car.If no noise is heard then either the fuse has blown(14 onmost models) and/or the unit is fried sometimes caused by damp). If you find the unit is goosed get in touch,i have repaired 400+ of these in the last few years

no pete she had an 09 ford ugly as fek KA which cost her £200 a month and she never drove out of plymouth so i demanded she took it back, then we had a hand me down ford mondeo 2litre (worse than s2 for fuel) which we sold then got her a mk 6 escort that smoked so bad it looked like it was on fire, sold that and she entrusted me to sort her out with a set of wheels.....hence the A4 cos i like them

new pump fitted and locks all work lovely jubbly! (thanks for your help with numbers spink!!)

new sender unit fitted, but still no working fuel gauge so im hopeing its the gauge itself as clusters not too expensive.

                        anyone know anyone breaking a mk1 A4????
