    Some small upgrades...

Managed to get my VAG Parts braided hoses onto the S2 yesterday evening and also changed the brake fluid (for the first time in ages) to some Super DOT4 Castrol. Brakes all bled nicely and a very stong pedal feel.

Also decided to swap on the Superleggeras and Pirelli P Zero Corsas while I was there, I've had them 2 years and hardly used them

Anyway, after getting the bomb recharged it was time to test out the new setup and I almost went through the screen! The added sharpness of the new fluid and lines combined with a bit more grip meant that the old girl stood on her nose

Overall a pretty simple job and one that I wish I'd have sorted a while ago

The wheels save 4kg a corner over the Dezents and the performance difference in 1st and 2nd is really quite large! Felt very strong, even with a passenger.

Just a 'little' clunk at the back to sort and then it's just a matter of getting me up to scratch for ADI

      for sure.

As always there another job that needs to be planned (prop bearing - been thinking about this for 2+ years) but the brakes at least are nice and tight for now.

I think I've got a front drop link gone too, would explaing a little clunk up front, that's usually what it is - might design my own.

Shame I reversed into the kerb in my carpark yesterday and snapped a rear bumper bracket - only lived here 3 years - I think having the interior back in has dropped it a little

        Ouch thats no good

I have a slight clunk when going over gravel or small undulations in the road surface. Its been like that for ages, keep hoping my MOT man will fail it on something related but he hasnt for the last couple years.
Thinking its got to be either drop links or ARB bushes.

Got those dials in and working andy, they look fantastic, especially at night. I had a problem with the clocks i bought as everything worked bar the mileometer and odometer. Had it in and out 3 times before i figured out what it was. It turned out to be a small dry joint on the circuit bored in the speedo Nightmare!!

I should get some pics up for you really

Great, glad you got it all sorted. Drop links woud be my guess if it's annoying rather than serious clunking

Just my terminology for the brakign system returning to the correct operating state. I think it's a side effect of the servo being old, when the bomb has been fully discharged (as will happen when manually pumping the brakes to do the final bleed), it takes a little while to 'recharge' again and give a proper pedal feel. IMO this is down to the servo seals, when not under a pressure differential - I've not seen anything to suggest what normal behaviour is for the system. The pedal pulses when pressed and I think this might be the high pressure from the pump acting on the servo rather than the steady pressure from the bomb, when 'charged'. I have a replacement servo to fit, just got to roll up my sleeves and get on with it...

The bomb was new from Custom Auto Craft 3 years ago and greatly improved the braking performance over the worn original item.

A little testing with the SuperL's on. The car doesn't feel smooth, it's either fuel or a boost leak / other small gremlin.

23 deg C, most other conditions the same.

Speeds, no carpet, no parcel shelf and no boot floor insultation save approx 20kg.

30-60 time is 3.20s avg. for 7 runs. This is down from >3.3s aveage for the stock car (and up from ~2.9 for the very stripped car (-110kg).

I think with whatever little issue solved and thus smoother power delivery, the 30-60 will drop to ~3.1s avg. (I had a couple of runs that were that way), not bad effort for basically just some lighter wheels, they're the equivalent of stripping something like 50kg from the car.

Dezents are 23kg, Supers are 19kg so that's a saving of 16kg in actual mass. Sounds about right.

With the supers and the car totally stripped, I'd hope for a 2.7s avearage 30-60... or about the same as a maxed out k03 S4 torque monster (390ftlbs)
