    Custom Wheels?

Was having a think about wheels yesterday and decided that I was annoyed that you can't get 17" Avus mk.1s. So, I though, I wonder if I could get some made up... Any ideas? Would have to be a group buy but could be rather

Yes you could, someone got the original Escort Cossie wheels made up the same as standard but in 18".
Make sure you are sitting down when you get a price though, because it will be VERY big!

Personally, Id say the cost involved would not be worth the bother just for an extra inch, it would be a LOT cheaper to just get some Mk1 S8's (which look better too)

Someone looked into this in the past and got nowhere with it. Performance alloys were suppose to sell 17" avus but they were actually mk2 when they arrived.

Shame we are not in American, be a doodle over there for this.

        PS.
The Escort ones are £1395 + VAT for a set just to give you an idea!
If you want to contact the bloke who did them to see how and where he got them made, his site is www.rsalloys.com

i can appreciate the idea Andy. a nice wheel and the 18" is not the most efficient size for these cars i agree.

id say you will not get the numbers with the wonga. the ford world is a different market.

id expect BBs LM's to be cheaper.

                        Think you're confused mk.1 & mk.2 here, those are the flatter mk.2s.

The mk.1s are what were fitted to the S2 originally.

Darren, any ideas who to try?

afraid the ones you have put the link up to are mk.2 Avus and as they're off a B5 S4 they're the wrong offset (ET45) and they're also 17"x7.5J IIRC...

I'm looking for a wheel manufacturer to use an original 16"x7.5J ET37 S2 alloy to design and manufacture a 17"x8J ET35 version that looks the same but is the perfect size for an S2.

The direct fit mk.2 Avus alloys are off an S6 BTW. 17"x7.5J ET35 IIRC.

                            no I'm not confused.

                            17'' mk.1 Avus like the 16'' S2 ones and the 18'' S8 ones.

Just hard to find, but they do exist.
