I am in North America (Canada to be exact). We have air and water cooled flat four- powered Volkswagen Type 2 (T3) vans also known as the T25, (or Vanagon in North America). We also got Type 2 (T3) Westfalias, like this water cooled one:

In South Africa, you got the same basic vehicle but at some point, they started to put inline Audi (or VW truck) engines (possibley the AAR?) in these vehicles. Since the flat four is pretty pathetic power-wise, upgrades are common, e.g. Subaru 2.5, Subaru SVX flat 6, VW 8V and VW16V, and, naturally Porsche flat 6 engines. However, if we could *just* get some of the bell housings that connected the five cylinder South African Audi/VW engines to the VW transaxle we could install, oh say, a 20vt AAN in the back. It has been done in South Africa already.
Anybody interested in a financial venture to purchase and ship new or used bell housings?

. Also, more torque put strain on the front to back gearbox. I saw an early 10V 2226cc turbo engne in one once but it also battled with cooling. Another coversion was to use the Audi 2.8 V6.
