Agreed Value Insurance - any suggetions?

Well its that time again and I keep having recurring nightmares about retards driving into me
With my CQs book value being about £1k if I'm lucky and the amount of mods / work I've put into it I really want an agreed value if i can find one, anyone got any suggestions about who does these kind of policies for pretty well modified cars?

I'm with SKY insurance and have agreed values on my golf and S2 it costs an extra £75.00 each, a year and I think you have to be with them for a year before they offer this service...

When I looked at renewing NO one else would offer it on a modified car... Not even the Golf which is not performance modified just the seats and alloys & lower suspension..

It was a right mare getting quotes...

Adrian Flux do agreed valuations although I can't stand them as a company, bad experiences with them.

Interesting on sky as they were saying they couldn't do it when I renewed this year, have to look into that

Well I have just renewed last month...

They told me they only had one insurance company offering that service as they no longer deal with QBE I think it was...

BUT it worth shopping round as I got better quotes from Admrial and Sky nearly matched it & offered the Agreed Values...

            Give them a ring...

Fewer and fewer companies are able to offer agreed values at the moment, for various reasons, mainly the exposure to fraudulent claims but also the administration involved in the agreed value process.

As far as Sky Insurance agreed values go, things are very much up in the air at the moment, only one of our underwriters is able to offer an agreed value and usually this is restricted to customers who only use the car as a show/weekend car.

You'd be better off finding a company who specialise in modified/performance cars and who will be able to support you and help you realise the true value of your car if you have a claim. However, bare in mind what you spend on modifications does not necessarily increase the value of the car.

I understand the modification don't increase the value of the car per se but the purpose of insurance for me is so that in the event my car is damaged, it be repaired to the standard it is now, or in the even of a total loss, i can replace the car with an equivalent condition and specification car - of which there are none.

My company should be able to provide like for like replacement on modifications and we would always support the customer if there was a dispute over the value placed on their vehicle and we felt the underwriter was under valueing the vehicle in the event of a claim, thankfully this is rare for us.
Some people to like to push it, this is where the problems with the administration of agreed values comes into it, it is very hard, sometimes impossible to find a happy medium between the customer and the policy underwriter.

how do you value modifications bought second hand? Since there are no receipts etc for this stuff? I can probably count on one handthe number of modifications i've bought new, but i have still spent ££££ - how does this work Ollie?

HIC have given me a reasonable quote with agreed value and salvage buy-back guarantee unless its a CAT-A or CAT-B write off

I had been with Footman James for the last 8 years but now changed to Peter James Insurance as offerred the same cover for £100 less (£205)and agreed value of £7k. A must for old cars that are seen by insurance companies as just a 24 year old car worth pennies!!

Got an AV with Sky this year but I have both cars with them, hence the S2 is my second car. The process was a little odd as you pay up front but it all went smoothly and I got a reasonable AV which reflects the car's condition and the £10k of receipts that I have for the restoration and mild tuning that I've done.

I think Mannings offer an agreed valued policy.

I just thought you could get your car valued.. Thus meaning you can prove the value.
I also used to cut out all high priced cars from auto trader etc and keep them in a book.

An sadly my golf did get wrote off the once they offered me 1500.
I showed them all my cut outs etc and ended up getting the 4000 pounds i had insured it for..
