Ok so after crashing my car this morning I want to ask if there is anyone out ther who knows how insurance companies work? Ie are they likely to write it off? It has only one bit of metal damage. The cross member? That runs across the car behind the bumper. A. Does this unbolt to replace or not? B. Would this write off the car? It also has a broken front bumper that is hanging on drivers side and needs the fogs and indicator replacing. I am fitting a new grill and headlight befor it gets looked at. Opinions please? It boosts fine has no new noises and is not leaking from the engine or pulling to a side whilst driving. As said it's all superficial damage nothing else.

                    Thanks

They shouldn't do really, what you can do is ask for a cash settlement, well I have in the past, I ended up getting enough money back to repair the car myself and have a good drink !

If its just a bumper why bother claiming ? let them look at it but you don't have to put a claim in for your own car, I guess as their going to pay out anyway for the van you may as well claim yourself but I don't know if that effects your insurance even more, I was claiming off someone elses insurance and I knew they would write my car off so I just asked for cash and offered to repair it myself.

                      Worth a go.

Cheers dude. Some of my friends have said do the other car and pay for my own out of my pocket. I may well do that seeing as I only need a bumper n number plate. That way I can do the rs repro one and put it in with the other spray work a friend was gonna do for me

If the damage to the van isn't that bad I would consider that as dropping a few years on your no claims would be expensive anyway
