    Audi quattro estate 2.6 - any opinions?

    Hi - a fellow Audi lover wants a 4-door saloon or estate based on the Audi 80..... with 4WD quattro...

    As far as I can see the only one is the Avant estate 2.6 quattro. Anyone got any experience of that.. looks very thirsty.... are they good?

    Only a little less thirsty than an s2 drive economically. Big lazy V6, you seldom have to change gear. I miss mine.

    cheers

      As far as I know you can get an 80 quattro;

      2.6 avant
      2.6 saloon
      2.8 saloon

      People should be along with more experience of them but mine is of a lazy easy to drive motor with bags of torque, lacks outright punch for overtaking but nice to drive the rest of the time.

        I've never seen a 2.8 avant as you say. Do they exist ?

            not bad at all, not the quickest but the v6 is generally speaking a fairly bullet proof lump. The 2.6 quattro avant from memory is fairly rare as well.
            i have a list of the poroduction numbers somewhere let me find it...

              My 2.6 is fairly lazy, but wakes up when you shove it from 4th to 2nd at 30mph and nail it. After 170000 miles things start to play up, like the cats, air coming into the inlet, fuel/air mix, and other expensive bits. Spare body bits are fairly cheap though (use ebay).

              They're very juicy for such a low powered engine though. I'm lucky to average 25mpg around town, and 33 on a long run.

              They do sound nice though, and are so comfy.
