    AAT Diesel Block Identification

    Hello everybody!!!!

A few days ago, I got a AAT block but it's not simular with what I have seen on this forum. The crank sensor locations are different and I can't seem to find the spot that needs to be welded on top. The rest looks OK. Any information on this? Here are some pictures....THANKS!!!!!!!

Thats the later block it has the sensor in the same position as the AEL block, your going to have to machine the block.

Look at AndyP's thread for details

Thanks for the info, Jamo. Is it worth it to stick with this or is it better to try to find the other one? It sounds to me that alot of work needs to be done on this.........

A lot of work needs to be done on every stroker. With my experience now I will consider it very good before I would make another stroker.
It runs nice but I am not sure if it is worth. The gains are minimal compared to the money and hassle that is involved.

For the stock block you can find cheap rods and pistons, no custom machining, no extra lines, pipes, oil pump and belts mix and match!

i must agree, if you want to drag with it, maybe go for 9000rpm as the other guy is doing in greece at the moment.

If you can find the earlier AAT it makes life a lot easier or else you have to do this

Depends on how you build it, I use all OEM ABY belts I do not have to use any custom belts and I'm using the oem tensioner.

I have no extra lines or pipes, I was using stock on the dry build but now braided.

to build a stroker is no different than a ground up build of the 20v block IMO if you have access and buy the correct parts from the off and don't try and mix and match.

You havent because Pisobiker did em for you. Read: Water plug for the water return, big plug for the crankshaft vent system, mounting point for the RS2 tensioner, holes for water pipe for heater system, for the knock sensors ect.

The 200ccm extra are not worth it IMHO. I wanted to try it and back then when i sourced the parts the prices for H-Beam rods where the same stroker or not. Today it looks different.

Actually nope he used a custom belt, you can check his thread

I change them to wagenr manifold and also changed to wagner PAS bracket that meant I could use a stock belt, get your facts right

And BTW I completely rebuilt the Pisobiker engine, the only part that are the same are the rods.

All those other things are simple to do, when tapping you just have to watch for water ways. we used a bigger bolt than oem for the tensioner wasn't hard to tap.

why does your setup only have 200cc extra? mine has 300

Who's the other guy, Vasili? I haven't heard about him or that car. He's in Athens?

Anyway, 9000 rpm is the better way to go but it seems to be more expensive then the stroker. Now that I got the block, I would like to have a stroker "experience"!

He is in Athens and has a B3 with an ADU engine. Recently had his belt go so he rebuilt the cyl head with mech valves and ported, all parts from 034, and he runs KMS i think. Tune by Andrianakis. He uses a GT35 for now, but wants to use a precision 6262 after that. Not sure about the quality of engine work done, but he took that route.

Lack of knowledge to the 5cyl engine in Greece is what causes problems with stroker builds. I would prefer to even have everything balanced, and even that cannot be done!
