How long have you let your MOT expire for???

...the reason I ask is I have just tried to tax one of my cars and the DVLA refused as it did not have a valid MOT on the database.

Turns out my latest MOT expired in May!

I have no idea how I missed that as I am normally very ****, I mean organised.

Off to get an MOT tomorrow then....

    Cheers,

    Steve.

Christ I would have been pulled 2 minutes after midnight in Brum if that happened

This year 4 months but the car was off the road, think the longest is a year when I laid up the car because of the exhaust and stroker change

Without providing too much detail, a few years ago, due to an 'administrative slip' there appears to have been a 9 month gap in a certain estate car's MOT history...

        Assume = *** of U and Me...

Assumed MOT'd at major service... etc, etc... *cough*...

My bug hasn't had one for bout 5 years. I carried on using it as an everyday car until bout 4years ago. Luckily I brought tax then maybe 1 month later the mot ran out n I didn't realise. Pretty much 1 yr later I found out I couldn't get tax n decided I knew it wasn't getting an mot so it's now in my garage, shell of the pan in about 1 million pieces I just can't weld n really need to learn so I can get it back on the road. I miss the old wh043!

Anyone wanna teach me to weld?

I realised the A6 was due on the actual day. Unfortunately that was when the back light was out, so I had to patch it up to get it through. Avoided major roads in the time between, just to be safe.

Plenty of VOSA, DVLA and panda checks round here and on the motorways, so I wouldn't risk it for long.

Working as a tester, the longest i have seen without a ticket was a 13 months, and that was regularly driven, and taxed
was just over four years old and never got taken for its first MOT after 3 years but he still got sent out a tax reminder and they didnt notice his lack of MOT........

Regularly see cars with over 6 months lapsed between tests and used daily.
Had one in today, BMW 750, personal plate, previous MOT expiry 16/06/2010 used daily

Very rare to see a car that comes in the month before the expiry.

I was 4 months over on my s2 once. Only noticed by chance as i was cleaning the car and saw the sticker with the expiry date.

Took it in the next day, it failed, booked a retest a few days later.. and it passed. They never said anything at the testing station.

I get my cars MOT'd by Tom C, so I get an SMS to remind me to book them about a month in advance.

Ive been a couple of weeks over before, its easy to forget especially if youve got plenty of tax left.
I never understood why vosa dont do a postal reminder system?? Almost like they want to catch you out.
