Short wheel bolts and wheel spacers maybe, however, pug use various types of wheel bolt seats, some tapered, ball and even spigoted ala 205 gti, so maybe been worked loose...

I got told off for doing them up too tight last time I was at a tyre place

I heard that the wheel went on strike because it was concerned about the minimum wheel size being raised from 15 to 16 inch. Either that or it was more interested in eating cheese and making love than actually being a wheel.

Must be to much power on that thing. The wheel bolts can't handle the enormous torgue and awesome grip on the 185/40 14" tires.
