    quattro + snow = awsome!

Stepped out of the house at 6.45am this morning to find the snow was up to my knees and still coming down hard at this point I did question my sanity for even attempting the 15mile trip to work, but then I thought, quattro + snow tyres, what could possibly go wrong Started the car up and I could see all the neighbours curtains twitching ( 3" exhaust! ) as they looked at the idiot trying to get to work. I was the first person down our road and litterally snow ploughed my way to the main road.

Any way I made it ( one of 15 out of 300! ) and one the way I overtook every 4x4 you could mention! I have never seen snow like this before, even last year we didn't have anything like this, there are cars and lorries abandoned everywhere.

I think I'm off home now to play GT5 all day.

Any problems at all - wheelspin, going sideways etc? Can't wait to get the winter rubber on the S6!

did the same a couple of years ago with my 90q with Toyo summer tyres on. Came at work but almost nobody was there. Opened up the fence to the parking, drove into a big layer of snow, put the car in reverse and parked it without probs. But threw the snow away while opening the door

I can make it wheelspin and go sideways, but if you drive sensibly it just goes and goes.

I've had snow tyres since I had my E30 325i about 10years ago and people don't beleive me when I say what a massive difference they make.

I'm so envious of you guys.
Down in south devon we haven't had a single flake. Just sun sun sun.... Not shorts and tshit weather because the wind has got some chill to it but there is no sign of any snow.

I can agree with the massive difference quote, my mate bought a set for his 90q with tuned up 10v in it and it is unstoppable, like a tractor lol just goes wherever you want, even if you want to go there sideways :-)

It's coming down like made here in Leeds and I've just been told we can't go home? What about my safety? So I have some how got to get a LWB Sprinter to the north side of Leeds with no weight in it. Can't wait for that. I need winter Tyres for my S2, how much are they Andy?
Just some finishing touches to do now

@ andy - don't envy you having to get up/down some of the hills in sheffield, even your driveway would be a pita for some

We have 5 to 15 inches of snow over the entire country and temperatures of -10 to -15C and people have no issues getting to work.
Might be that we are a bit better prepared for this kind of weather though.

I always use studded winter tyres on my cars though.

I moved the Benz from the road to the drive last night, it must have taken best part of an hour, its fooking useless

Yeah, see, as a nation, we tend to stick our heads in the sand once it starts snowing.

Nobody wants to take responisibility for their own actions by, say, buying appropriate tyres for the season. Instead we'd rather run around on summer tyres and blame the government for not covering the entire country in 4 inches of salt.
