    Ebay conman (suspected - ANNB5479)

Just a quick warning to any of you who sell on ebay (and maybe on here).

I sold a pair of wiper stalks on ebay a few weeks ago, as we all know the seller has to send by recorded delivery now or if the item is reported not received then they lose the item and the money......

Well lets put it this way in a few years of selling on ebay (5 to be precise) I have had 2 items I think go missing with RM, that's out of circa 500 items sold and I class this as one of those 2 as well!

Buyer was a bit weird from the start and you can tell when they are trying it on as they send a message to you around when they should be receiving the item asking for a tracking number to check when it will be arriving, not exactly normal behaviour a couple of days after winning the item, a couple of weeks maybe so you want to find out where the hell it is but 2-3 days you just chill out and wait for it to come.

This is usually solved by a simple response of it should be there any time and I have proof of posting, this guy however obviously knew how to play the game as a night or 2 later the aggressive threatening messages start coming in about how he needed the item quickly to do a job and as they were obviously lost (less than a week gone by) he wanted a full refund or 2 more stalks right now.

Everything about it screamed scam, but of course you have no choice to swallow it and give the refund (£19, not the end of the world but the principle is annoying) and then put the claim in, it will be interesting to see the result of the claim and investigation as I firmly believe this guy has stolen the item (of course to add insult to injury he left negative as well!! Unbelievable even though a refund was given quickly)

If the investigation does show any dishonesty then he will be receiving a visit from Bib as it will be reported, in the meantime I suggest anyone who sells to an ebayer with the name of ANNB5479 or in the Wickersley area of Rotherham.

The guy has a 94 Green 80 TDI.

It's up to you if you do business with him (I say him even though all contact details are for a woman, given the nature of the messages it is clearly a man), this is purely my experience and belief of what has happened. May save you some money though!

this happens all the time now on the bay... At least the RM will stump up to £41.00 if the item is lost (100 x 1st class stamp)... It takes a while but they do pay up...

I have to admit that it annoys me that we "Tax Payers" cover these costs due to peeps trying to rip other's off knowing that there is nothing you can do as ebay & paypal side with the buyer every time UNLESS you have proof of delivery (Also has to be online proof too)...

I now send most items out by RD - A; if it's over £41.00 in value or B; if its the only one I have and can't replace the item....

As for the feedback you can ask Ebay to remove it - If you feel it's unfair....

I do find that on the whole most buyers are honest... but you always get one & some times there are Genuine Losses... I've had a few go missing when I have bought stuff...

Gotta take the rough with the smooth I guess....

I've edited the title to make the seller username more obvious. Hope you get it sorted

I'm not being funny right, but why did Ebay delete the feedback you gave him? And if he was a conman, why would he have a feedback score of 765? Call me naive but have you not considered the possibility that 1.) the items WERE lost and 2.) the guy was just being a little impatient.

I consider it perfectly acceptable to ask for a tracking number, I like to have one for piece of mind....and I certainly wouldn't wait a couple of weeks before finding out what is happening with the item. Especially when you buy an item on ebay the seller states an expected delivery time.

He was rude, true and a bit of an idiot. But I don't think your comments are very fair.

Any thing over £30 goes special delivery signed for no questions. Only way to weed out the messers.

As said in the post it's advice for people to draw their own conclusions from, maybe I'm right and will save someone some money and hassle, maybe I'm wrong in which case feel free to ignore the advice.

Ebay deleted my comments because in their infinite wisdom they won't allow sellers to leave negative feedback, now call me a bit grumpy if you like but I think that a buyer who is rude, threatening (totally ignoring suspected of dishonesty at this stage) and who gets their money back in entirety postage and all then negs for no reason deserves negative feedback.

There are bad sellers on there but there are a hell of a lot of bad buyers, look at the feedback this guy has left for others and you start to realise he is a serial negger.

I thought ebay changed it so you can't leave neg feedback to buyers?

                What!?!

No wonder he had great feedback....if sellers aren't able to give neg feedback...what's the POINT in the feedback system if you can't even be honest?

Yup they changed the feedback system a while ago, pita as now buyers can't get neg feedback which is wrong.

Sold sum 20mm hubcentric spacers on ebay couple of months ago?? week later guy contacts me saying they never turned, gave it a couple of weeks and he still reckons they never turned up. so i sent him the invoice to prove i sent them.
then arranged to send him another pair by recorded post.
Item was sent, and i contacted him to say they will need signing for.
Never heard another thing from the guy, so thought he must a recieved new spacers.
So put a claim into Post Office for the original missing spacers and 3 weeks later get a cheque for £36-00

But next day after recieving cheque, the spacers that were sent by recorded delivery were returned to me at work??????

I know think that he did recieve the first spacers, and felt guilty about ripping me off and woundn,t sign for the last pair! or the original ones were lost and finnaly turned up
so he refused the replacement ones.

but still have never heard from the guy

Bloody flebay is turning into a minefield especially for the sellers
I sold a portable 12v tv last week on there, brand new and still in the box and packaging.
Now the winning women bidder has refused to pay me and has contacted ebay direct because I will not give her a personal warranty for it
For what this cost me so far I could have bought an S2

                        Tell me about it!!!!

I've had stacks of plebs buy stuff (Buy now, Best Offer & Auction) and never pay for them and they can get away with it - Cos as a seller you can't leave neg feedback..

Ebay don't seem to do anything even if you do open an unpaid case...

Plus there are some real idiots on there... I sold a relay to a bloke for a Seat Ibiza... and now cos his car don't have that actual relay he wants a full refund a month after buying it or is threatening to leave neg feedback.... :corey:

FFS if your car don't have one in the first place how can you "Replace" it....

Then is blaming me cos I say in the listing that it "SHOULD" fit Seat Ibiza models from 1993-1999... I don't say which models cos I don't have that info....

                        I do despair at times....

Lol glad it's not just me then!

Got the claim to sort out tomorrow, joy more unnecessary paperwork! Of course they won't repay the lost postage so I'll just get about £14 back and still be a fiver down.
