I think it's turned up a few times on the forum.
The MTM conversion was done by QST for a forum member by the name of Barry, at an alleged cost of £25k. It also had a ridiculous carbon bonnet on it.
The first engine QST built put a rod through the block. The car was up for sale for >£13k in ~2004, but was hit at the front by a Volvo, so I guess that reduced the value.
There was no doubt it was a quick car, especially back then.

I seem to remember it was for sale on Pistonheads some time after that with the power boasted from 380bhp to 400bhp.

Somebody else around here must know more, or may have even owned it.

yes your bang on. but i did not know it had a tip with the volvo. it must have been repaired really well as you would never know by the looks of it. and your right about
that carbon bonnet that got bined. the paper work backs up everything you have
said. QST did all the work on the car. however i guess this makes no matter now.
the car is dead now R.I.P ( REST IN PARTS)

      thanks for input

IIRC It also had a Mov'it brake rotor come loose, which meant the car left the road. But even in 2004ish when I last saw the car, it wasn't exactly in mint condition.

I always remember Barry saying that the car had an MTM gear kit or some sort of modified gearbox, not that I'm certain you could believe everything he said.
I wonder if you have any evidence of that? It was always of interest to some of us 5 speed 3B owners.

Here's a photo I got of it at Castle Combe in 2003.

            RIP.

              RIP.

thats her alright. i am about to pull the engine and box out of it this weekend.
so i will keep an eye out for that for sure. this car had silly money spent on it. but i
suppose i can understand the addiction. as i say before the paper work suggests
everything you say. this chap barry his name is in the service history however another
              guy. spent £2.970GBP on a MTM/QST 350bhp upgrade mental

You should have a nice collection of parts there then. And yes. It is easy to get carried away with the spending on these cars.

It would be interesting to know about the spec and condition of the 'box. I'm guessing it still had the 5 speed ARV in it. The MTM 'box upgrade could be BS, but it would be nice to know.

yes as i have a 3b myself i will have the uses of some desent parts. from this car however hopefully i will not need to use them just yet. as for the MTM box the service history does show that the box had a rebuild and MTM uprated clutch kit in 2003 at a cost of
£1.410GBP and the guy you spoke of (BARRY M ) his name is on the bill. however the proof of the pudding is in the eating. when i pull the box out i would be happy to confirm
this for sure. i can t use it anyway as i have ABY 6 speed in mine.

                  thanks for your input

Ha ha. Yes. You know that just because there is a bill from QST doesn't necessarily mean the work has been done.
I've also fitted a 6 speed DSY, but I do prefer a nice 5 speed, so I have a spare just in case there is ever a solution to the weakness.
