Must be the Ashes To Ashes effect, even if he didn't see the show at that age he must have seen all the trailers for it!

I remember two kids on their bikes seeing my S2 when I parked up at the local paper shop and saying "nice car mister!" ...well it rumbled and has the OZ wheels which was probably enough for them, but actually it would get a few interested people coming across when at the filling station. Most never realised that the I5 turbo and quattro drivetrain were installed in that shape of coupe.

I had a funny experience in Berlin the other day. Driving my alu-silver UrS6 Avant.
Usally I get so many compliments and thumps in my orange '69 Firebird 400 so I was kind of shocked when this young guy in his old POS Astra pulled up next to me and asked l5 or V8...
I first looked at my steering wheel making sure I was driving the Audi and then smiled when I said l5 turbo and he went..."let me hear it!"
...made my day.... and once again showed, these old TurboQuattros are so much fun...

Got complemented on my car while pumping up the tyres at a local garage the other day... slightly unexpectedly by someone old enough to be my Mum!

There was a driver the other day who though my car was no.1. He honked his horn and flashed his lights to get my attention and then showed me a single digit and was shouting lots. I couldn't make out what he said but I'm sure it would just have confirmed the fact that he thought the car was as ace as the driver

I get the odd comment but 99.9% of the time it just gets mistaken for some 'old Audi'. I'm fine with that to be honest, makes it less diserable to thieves.

Driving the TVR however, that's a whole different experience!

TVR - yeah - you look like a right nobhed driving one of those - bound to get noticed... LOL - I love the Griffith, Cerbera & Chimera - the modern equivalent of the mighty AC Cobra it has to be said. Must be horrible to own though sometimes with their reliability issues and price of fuel. But with the top down and that V8 rumble you could not contain the grin.

Ha! I've been reliably informed by the missus that I have had abuse hurled at me but to be quite honest I'm never going to hear them over the sound of the V8.

As for reliability, you have to go in to TVR ownership with your eyes wide open. The Rover V8 is a fantastic engine and is very easy to work on. There's very little to go wrong with the engine which would result in big money to fix it. The only problems I've had is the King HT Lead breaking in half and another HT lead burning itself on the right hand manifold.

TVRs own straight six engines can be hugely expensive to keep in fine fettle and their own AJPV8 can be a pig to keep in tune.

                  It's a Chimaera btw.

You can get a duff car from any marque. A friend of mine bought an A3 and it developed faults almost everyday for 2 months until he returned it.

The trouble is that some TVRs are quite old now and are getting cheap. You find alot of people pay peanuts for them and don't maintain them. I guess the same could be said about S2s too...
