Very funny advert. I particularly like the stuck on '4x4' badge and the fact that the photos are 4 years old :corey:

I got a B3 10v coupe quattro on an "F" plate many years ago for my mate, and it was advertised by the car dealer at the time as a Turbo. Sure enough, the Log Book did say "coupe quattro turbo"! There were a few around like that at the time.
When I first saw it advertised, I thought it was fitted with the LP Turbo 170bhp from the Audi 100 of the same vintage!!

Yep, deffo an error from the log book (schoolboy from the salesman though as well) I had one of these years ago (an '89 Coupe Quattro KV coded 2.2 10v) but the log book claimed it to be a Coupe Quattro Turbo. It definitely wasn't. Slow, cumbersome and not worth the fuel bill. Nice engine though.Comment

I too have seen many of these Coupe's wrongly described as a turbo on the registration doc.
And conversely, one of my old ur-quattro's was described as a 'Coupe quattro' on the V5. Which I managed to get corrected all these years later with the help of a letter from my Audi dealer

Am I right in thinking a 'Coupe Quattro' was just the quattro version of the coupe while the 'Quattro' was the one with the 2.2 five-pot turbo?I too have seen many of these Coupe's wrongly described as a turbo on the registration doc.

Audi made a real balls of the naming... here is potted version
The famous wedgey / rally / turbo 4WD machine is the original 'UR' Quattro - with a capital Q as well I think - or maybe I got that wrong
It was based on the 'B2' bodyshell from the FWD Audi Coupe... After success of the turbo machine and its elite status on hand built line etc, Audi produced some other 4WD machines... indeed there was a 4WD version of the B2 coupe shape without a turbo (KV engine) which was the 'Audi Coupe quattro' - note use of lowercase 'q' when Audi started to concentrate on this stuff.
When the wedgy shape of the 80s phased out with the launch of the 'B3' curvy coupe platform we also have the same KV engined mechanics in the 'Audi Coupe quattro' that this eBay car seems to be. Only available circa 1988-1990 approx.
The flagship B3 Coupe was of course the S2 - 'Audi Coupe quattro S2' or sometimes 'Audi S2 Coupe 4WD' on log books - that always has 20V turbo engine.Paul Nugent

We had a 1988 reg coupe quattro that was also listed as a turbo on the document, in the early 90's I wrote to VAG and got a letter from them to state it was not a turbo so I could get the DVLA to change it. I did this so as to avoid any issues if we ever had an insurance claim. We had that car for 13 years and my other half loved it, it would go anywhere in any weather. Only got rid as it was starting to rust on the rear arches (its the only one I've ever seen where its rusted through) and starting to feel its age. In early 2006 I sold it for 900 and would you believe it last year it reappeared on Ebay at 2k ! did not sell though.
Apparently VAG registered a lot of the first 1988/89 cars as turbo's as you sometimes see others on ebay described as such. Ours was from October 1988 so it was definitely one of the first.
My other half is now driving an A3 1.8 petrol (non) quattro, absolute waste of time in the snow. She won't drive my S2 now (its too big ?) or my 7A 90Comment
