Many years ago i hit one and bang went me wheel.
Pulled over to change it, A female copper came up and told me to wait as she had just called for back up because i had hit a kerb and scared her dangerous driving blar blar blar i nearly swung for her..

I changed my wheel waited till the real police came (lol) in a car that is not male waited till she told her story. waited till i was told i was going to get prosicuted, blar blar blar then showed the police man the whells that had hit the kerb and asked him to explain how i had cracked the inside edge with no damage to the outside,,

Funny things wheels mate just because the damage is on one side dont mean you hit it there,, really muppet see you in court then because im not having it then the driver got out his car came over asked me to calm down before i got nicked. explained myself to him an wow amazingly he laughed and said he could feel my pain. and asked me how i hadnt hit one of them..
He then took them, to one side andf they come over and said we are so sorry blar blar
I then got her to sign a statment to how much it scared her showed them the pot hole then wrote my letter to council saying how they was lucky i never hit the copper in my car that is as i fighted to keep control

The result 90 pounds to get a new wheel thanks the tyre cost me about 140 :mischeif: but better than a kick in the ...But since then i know its not worth the effort. put more effort into avoiding them.

We pay because we are stupid and are quite willing to pay, any other firm doing what the government do would be up on serious fraud charges

I just gave up in the end.....

and I know it's easy to say - but that is exactly what they want you to do.

Only yesterday in the local paper it was reported that the Council had paid out various amounts for damage caused to vehicles through road 'incidents' [ including £75 ( obviously excess) for a windscreen broken by a golf ball hit into the road from a Council owned course..... seriously.]

20 odd years ago Berkshire were threatened by their insurers that cover would be withdrawn because of the amount of claims that were being made due to road surfaces.... so its insurance and Councils will try and fend off ANY claim to reduce the claims they have to make on their insurance.

How do I know..... I worked there ! When things like this happened to staff they also claimed - and use to get the runaround as well !!
