just been over on golf gti forum and found that he is doing re-maps and also a stand alone diy tuning box..i remember him getting rid of the avant and getting a skoda..any reports would be useful
I sold him an ECU upgrade on that Avant ages ago... I later heard he was acting as an agent for one of the UK chip tune companies - OBD stuff for more modern cars. Dunno what insight he has on Motronic & such - suspect very little if he is downloading generic upgrades from a library supplied by a tuning house. Depends what you want done.
That ECU is in my car now. He's into more modern stuff I think he also does custom maps too. There's lots of good things said about his maps all over the net.

Basically what Paul wants to tell you is this:
Chipping or flashing a library over OBD does not have anything to do with understanding the inner workings of the stock ECU.
