MRC told me to give them a miss a few years back. Doug mentioned a hybrid he knocked up being more streetable after he noticed my sticky pedal clutchnet one and said the spec clutches weren't much better. Sorry if thats worded badly, getting tired.

as always, when someone asks for a spec clutch kit, i will be the only one saying that when i used mine( stage 3+ ) with my 3071R turbo making around 600Nm torque, it held nice and did not create any issues. There was definitely more bite to the clutch and you need to get used to it, but other than that, i have had no concerns with it. I did not do any stand still starts though.
It is now removed from my car and has minimal wear, as i changed to a single mass flywheel. I have kept it, as noone wanted to buy it (bad publicity in the forum did have a bit to do with it), however i am still considering to use it if i decide to go back to the dual mass flywheel. If you are keen to try something like it, let me know. I can still let it go cheap.Comment

You're not alone
Iv'e used a setup with 3+ disc and 5+ pressure plate on my 2.5. Dynoed 700nm @ wheels on a Mustang dyno. Used both on the street and on track days with no other problems then a bit harder clutch pedal.Comment

i have been using a stage5+ for 2 years,no issues regards slipping/launching...rather heavy in traffic thoughComment

well differing opinions then....which is good...
the main reason for this question is due to the costs of both Southbend & 034 clutch kits....just for information sake i plan to use a single mass flywheel, no off the line drag style starts....i just need sonething to be able to cope with 500hp....Comment

i have my SPEC stage 3+ clutch since more than 2 years ago.... and 0 problems,NEVER ¡¡ it is very nice, and very confortable for everyday car and street too¡¡ i am very happy with it.... and i am using it with 390hp & 640nm ... and continue working perfect.

Mike, as I think we both agree Southbend seem to be the way forward.
Problem is, I'm baffled by which is ideal for my application and can't justify really spending >$600 on a clutch which seems to rule out anything other than the most basic ABY unit!
For ~380-400hp and ~400ft/l I think "stage 2 endurance" or "stage 3 daily" are on the money but at $700 and $900 respectively they're alot more than the AAN equivalents they offer
However.. if you are using the Single Mass I think they are alot cheaper, perhaps ask Marc for details?AUDI - saving Dad's from minivans since 1994
