    Virus protection?

I know some of the chaps on here are extremely good with the IT stuff. Any suggestions on the best virus protection for my pc? Sick of things going wrong.

Avast is really good its free and updates everyday by its self... Avg its free and good.. Also download free malwarebytes to run along side the anti-virus that will stop and malware gettibg through off sites and programs. Dont be paying for your anti-virus the free one is just as good hoped that helped

Microsoft security essentials all the way, a lot less system heavy than the rest.
It can be running a full scan on mine and I don't even notice it slowing down the pc unlike all the others.

Thanks for the help guys, I have the free AVG one but not sure it actually does anything Sometimes feels like it is just there for the sake of it and not actually finding any problems Will try the others you suggest too

Yep as above, Avast + MSE . One step further is to use Firefox + NoScript https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/fir...ddon/noscript/ to prevent clickjacking / fake AV crap.

I suggest switching to the proven Internet Explorer 6. Make sure you have ActiveX enabled. Under no circumstances install the software "Mozilla Firefox" or "Google Chrome", as these are viruses.

You should also make sure that Windows Update is set to NOT automatically update and reject any updates offered. Also ensure that Windows firewall is disabled along with any firewall on your router.

Be sure to click on any links and open any attachments in emails you receive, even if you do not know the sender, to ensure the contents are not viruses. For best results, please use Outlook Express version 4.

In terms of anti-virus software, you can be sure to trust any of the unknown offerings that appear in popup windows while visiting sites of an adult nature.

Finally, if you still have problems, consider upgrading to Windows ME.

Avira AntiVir is the top current free choice. Less of a resource hog than MS on start up and for the first 30 mins of PC use.

                    You forgot to add, NOT!!

All of the above, read by the non-cynic will result in problems (eventually).

Dangerous approach to giving advice to the unwary/non-computer savy.

One would have to be either two years, or a hundred years old to not know that the 'advice' offered was sarcasm..
