It was the engine, blue thick smoke but only on idle or at very low speed for some reason.

I looked at this car in December 2010, seemed ok until I realised 1st gear was whining!!!!! It had had a front end smash and can't remember if hit up the rear as well repaired nicely. He new nothing about the gear box issue but this was his 3rd S2 the last one a blue cat C right off sold on ebay. If this car comes up you need to buy it at a very good price and ask very specific questions! This is just my opinion.

sounds like a combination of breather system needing unclogging and new guides.

probobly something easy anyway, new turbo recent head rebuild and good compression, could have been the oilrings but i doubt it as it wasn´t permanent.
