Try getting in touch with Bry. He is converting an A8 4.2 V8 to manual, this also has a 10bolt crank. He has found an Audi flywheel that will bolt on, and fit inside the 01E bellhousing, so may be of use to you.

I think the RS4 10 bolt flywheel is unique, the B6/7 S4 ones are certainly the usual 8 bolt pattern, not sure about the gearbox though unfortunately - maybe email JHM I'm sure they could tell you?
I have scratched my head all day mate with a little fabrication I can use the original flywheel original clutch and fit it to either an 016 or an 01E but I would have to use a spacer ring between the box and the engine. And do a little machining on part of the duel mass flywheel
The trouble is as all the timing gear is at the back of the engine they have had to rotate the starter motor outwards and make it slightly smaller therefore a bigger flywheel. An S2 starter will not fit at all, if it had I could have used a V6 10bolt flywheel
The pressure plate and friction plate is almost exact dimensions as UR/3B ABY etc
But the issue is that the 80 has a 4 cyl Quattro box and the stud pattern on the bell housing is different to the 5cyl version.
So I need to change the box anyway, but it comes back to the age old issue if I go for s2 box I will have to have custom half shafts ect also
I guess I could get away with an 016 for the time being and use coupe Quattro front drive shafts as I need to retain 4 stud hubs for the correct look I am aiming for.
A very select few of you 'Geekers' know about this top secret project, and thanks all of you who do for keeping my little secret.
I have a secret project that I will soon share with you all, and I have a feeling you might like it :)
My original intention was to keep this project secret, and...
Why don't you use the bottom end of the v8 that came in the s6+? That way the gearbox bolts straight up and you only have to mate the later heads onto the earlier block.

Nice idea but I don't know the comparability of the early and late heads. At least if I sort it this way I know the clutch will handle the power and If it destroys the box I can source cheap replacements

I think somebody on motorgeek something similair, swapped either the bottom end or the crank to get the 8 bolt setup, I guess the whole bottom end would make sense to get the starter in the right place.
Another thread with some good info and run through different options
Well folks, I guess I'll make a big splash (hopefully not a belly flop) with my first post.
I'm beginning a huge, yet hopefully short, undertaking that will transplant an RS6 powerplant and 01E 6 speed in to my 2002 S6. You may be thinking I'm nuts or why not just buy an RS6 or just use a...
Uses a custom flywheel, spacer plate and tilton starter in the end
I was worried when I found that PDF a couple of months ago as it shows the fuel rails at 136bar (2000psi) I was wondering where the hell I was going to find a fuel pump to do that but then later found out the engine has the pumps built in and they are just fed from something like an 044
