    Wide track

Hi just wondering if anybody knows if its a good idea to make the track of my S2 wider for better grip/handling on hard cornering
Any advice will be greatly taken on board.
    Cheers Herm

What are you trying to do, making the track wider is fine but your limit is the arches on a stock S2

There's a trade off between 'wider' and 'better'... Adding 100mm on the track might seem like a good idea, but what you gain on the swings, you'll lose on the roundabouts...

You'll gain here and there, but at 100% mad box of frogs driving with it, a well sorted 'near to standard, or standard tracked' car on sensible wheels and decent brakes will still keep up on any UK road... It's not about width, it's about 'control'. IMHO.

I would worry more about these issues's before the track :-
          (In no order)

          Suspension
          ARB's
          Wish bones
          Sub frames
          Weight balance
          Roll cage
          Diff's
          Weight
          Braking system (Not OEM)

Once these are all ticked off then the next port of call will be some serious wide arches and some 10J wheels with some 300 slick rubber

Cheers for the info chaps, the cars main use will be track but still be road legal as is not my main car. Been looking into the coilover set ups people use and think i will make my own then any other parts that may need uprating, the car itself will have a useable 500whp when iv finished building it so handling is a must for me.

Your want a dry sump to go with that 500whp if its a track car for sure or at least a accuusump

could you tell me prices for the mounts please, pm if you wish.
only thing iv left to think about are the diffs

                        Photos, as requested

The red topped gearbox/tranny mount is the poly topped softer version, that are being tested now. the black one is the hard spec version

Whats the reasoning for the softer ones? is it just for daily drives? How long will either last?
Sorry for the 101 questions but im the sort that gets the right stuff 1st time to save buying twice
                          Cheers for all your help

The softer ones are for a softer ride, these are being tested by Tonk4x4, and tomorrow WILL@ VRS will have a set to play with.
So cannot confirm just yet how they will last, but the poly is a very hard wearing material.
And if you need any thicker custom wheel spacers making.
                              These are 65mm thk spacers
