    VW 1.6 Beetle Cambelt Change

Its a longshot, but has anyone changed the cambelt on a 1.6 2001 VW Beetle?

My girlfriend has just got one, its on 94000 miles and there is no record of it being changed...So there is my fun task for the week!

I have found a guide for the 2.0 litre and im guessing it will be pretty similar..engine mount removal is needed...better than the whole front end for the s2

If anyone has, tips etc would be useful!

Can I suggest that you get yourself a genuine VW cam belt kit from your local VW stealer as this will have all the necessary parts to do the job, ie belt, nut, bolts and tensioner rollers etc. Just make sure you give him your cars chassis number and engine code if possible

Yup, i had already planned on that, makes the job much easier knowing you have the right parts!
