What to do with

HI, I'm casting my bucket into the well of S2 forum wiseness, My daily driver (coupe 2.0 8v) has developed a hesitation / splutter which is proving difficult to sort, so I'm in two minds as what to do with it - sell it as is, or break it for parts.? I've had it over two years now so feel ready for a change - It's a 95 N in kingfisher blue with black half leather sports trim, also has black headlining (non sunroof) What to do ????

I'm thinking a big portion of the decision is how long your daily commute ?

Either way, imho it way it would be less hassle to sell it for more money as a runner with no hesitation issue.

Photos are always informative / good.

The black headlining sounds great, ( would like one for my Avant ).

Someone on here or Audifans should know what the cause of the hesitations is.

Can you list or describe more detail on the symptoms of the problem to increase the chances of a more accurate remote diagnosis of the problem ?

Well ... it starts from cold no problem, runs fine until the engine temp gets to a 1/4 way up the gauge - thats when it starts to splutter etc also the idle is very erratic - when the engine reaches full operating temp its still running rough but if the ignition is switched off & restarted all is fine ??

Have you replaced any parts yet?

I would say lambda sensor first. Also try disconnecting the cold start injector. I leave mine disconnected permanently.

Failing that, start looking at things like, plugs, plug leads, ignition stuffs, then things like fuel filter etc.

Is it single point injection or multi point injection.

My old saloon was single and that needed the rubber boot under the throttle body changing. Although I would say with the year yours is it will prob be multi point.

it'll be multi point.

I had similar issues - lambda change sorted it out for me. Also try pulling the codes if you havent? Changed the ecu water temp sensor??

Sorry I should have said --- well so far I've changed ....
new cold start injector
coolant temp senders x2
plugs, leads
rotor arm & cap
idle air control valve
breather system
fuel & air filters

had tested ....
ecu
lambda
air flow meter

full diagnostic check - agreed there was a fault but couldn't say what the cause is, only " it's an old car & old cars give trouble " ?
