I just got to see this in the last screening in the local cinema. What an absolute legend and the film was so well done. I'd recommend it to anybody. My baby sister who was only born when he died loved it.

Well worth looking at some more youtube senna stuff.

Compelling viewing - me and the missus loved it.

The film mainly focuses on the rivalry between Senna and Prost and the politics of F1 at the time and how they affected Senna, as well as giving a lot of time to Senna's faith and humanity in a juxtaposition to his incredibly agressive driving style. While the film was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it, it was conspicuous how little time was dedicated to explaining Senna's driving talent and triumphs. IMO, this was to generalise the film and make sure that it was more applealing to people who might not consider themselves F1 fans, although I think that this might have been a little misjudged as such a subject matter is always going to be a limited market. I'd have loved to see footage of various races where Senna was at his best (Donington was mentioned, the Mercedes race at the 'ring would be another and there are 101 more I'm sure - some of which are shown in the closing credits) but there were mainly the controvertial bits, interspersed with some of his moments of genius. I guess that most petrolheads can supplement the film with a youtube trawl but don't be suprised if, on your way home, it dawns on you how much was missed out as much as how much you have learned.

The last 30 mins was very emotional and one of the most touching pieces of film I've seen at the cinema - the whole place was silent for the whole time; not even the rustling of sweets or the slurping of drinks, just pure, uniterrupted concentration from 100s of people. Truly special. Of course, 99% of the people there knew where the film was going and I'm sure most had seen the footage countless times. It was the additional information and footage that made it so compelling and this section alone is worth the £6 ticket.

I'd have to say that if you're umming and aaahing about getting to the cinema then go, as the sound of an F1 engine, onbard at full chat through a cinema sound system and on a massive screen is just great

I think there is an extended version with more footage that didn't go on general release, has anybody seen that?

Makes sense. I saw a trailor that had footage that wasn't shown.

The original cut was around 4 - 5 hours long but obviously had to be compressed for general release.

For those that haven't seen it yet, dont rush out for a p155 at the end, watch the footage over final credits as well.
