Longest was in my old 1991 Coupe Quattro from Greeley, CO to the Indiana/Ohio boarder (then on to Philly). I was cursing the guy parked next to me in a Eurovan when I was trying to sleep in my CQ! My most fun was picking up my 1990 CQt from 034 and driving it back to Denver with a night in Las Vegas.

I've done a few epic journeys now, I did the cannonball in 2006 which finished in Budapest, we stayed there for a few days then drove back to Cambridge via the ring, stopping for fuel only.
A couple of years ago we went to the ring and my mate crashed his m3 so I came home to Cambridge, borrowed a trailer and a land rover and went straight back out there to collect the car and come home, only stopping for the ferry journey.
I try not to make a habit of it, doesn't do your body any good or your guts once you have consumed about 20 cans of red bull lolComment

In 2006 i did a non stop (bar fuel and food) drive from South Wales via Belgrade to Ivanjica in the middle of Serbia in a J Reg LWB Isuzu Trooper that we got for Free. 1,600 miles and took 26hours we left the Isuzu for a friend in Belgrade and i traveled back home in the back of a Defender 110, i think the trip back was worse than the drive there!Black B3 1990 CQ 2.3E converted to ABY & 6spd. In 2000 I did a non stop drive from Valdagno Italy to Calais on the RS2.
1400 and something kms per 11.5 hours of driving
Of course via Germany to take advantage for the ending average speed..... wich on the BC ended to be 143 kmph.
The most impressing thing was the consumption of tha ADU when unlished in the Autobahns..... scary!

I did the run for a grand entry fee, basically 2 of my friends were doing it but one was diagnosed with testicular cancer and had a operation booked the same day they were leaving so he asked me to do it on his behalf.
We took a Clio 172 of all things, we were supposed to be taking a v8 Capri but the headgasket went the night before we left so took the backup car.
The route was earls court to Brussels, parties then off to Prague the following morning, more parties, no sleep then we went to Budapest and drove the hungaroring followed by more parties lol
We had a amazing time, obviously neither of us had money like some of the others did but very few were up their own ****, most would keep our drinks topped up constantly for us lol
I don't believe the cannonball is still going, a few years after I did it everyone paid their deposit and a few previous entrants got suspicious that the usual paperwork hadn't arrived so called the hotel in Brussels to find out it hadn't been booked, it turned out Conrad ( chap who ran the rally ) had done the off with something like 3 grand of every persons entry fee ! I was gutted for them all as plenty of them were just people on a average wage wanting to take part in something different, I never heard the outcome but I think it's fair to assume they never got their money back
I have lots of pictures still from the event, amazing experience that was fortunate enough to get.
Also on the plus side my friend has since made a full recovery from his cancer

Glad to hear your friend was ok after that. Bet he was gutted, for more than one reason.
Could think of worse cars to do the run in than the clio. At least they have something fun to them. Sounds like the kinda thing that would be so fun to do. I heard about a book based on the Cannonball so got it and read it. Its by Alex Roy called The Driver. Waiting for the film to come out.
Worth looking up and reading if you have any interest in these kinds of things.
The Gumball rally kicked off last week I think in London.Comment

He did manage to do one the following year I think and got free passes for all the trackdays they did as well so they were very good to him, I owe him big time but I think he was just happy to be well again.Glad to hear your friend was ok after that. Bet he was gutted, for more than one reason.

Gumball and Cannonball are 2 different things in terms of money and what you get but both equally amazing experiences.
The clio was SO comfy, even after the drive back to the UK my back felt like it had been massaged the whole time lol It also was amazing on fuel so we came in around 30th place at most of the destinations, the Hungaroring was a hoot too, no briefing, loads of supercars and me and my mate in a 172, I loved it !

If we're counting with stopovers, then:
Leeds -> Edinburgh -> Glasgow -> Sonic's for a curry -> Bath -> Antwerp -> Dusseldorf -> Amsterdam -> Leeds
Road trip with my American friend.
Fuelled by alcohol, weed and hookers. Not while driving, of course.1993 ABY Coupe | BMW R1200 GS
