I got mine direct from Audi along with a few other tools.
Price wise its up to the Audi Dealership what they charge.
I'm lucky where I've got a trade account with the Audi place I use plus I've been using the same one for over 10 years now, so I got it for peanuts.

Ive just been looking on the net for the Matra tool with no luck, some websites say it has been discontinued. I assume that Audi stealers will charge an are and a leg for one too.

Unless someone wishes to lend me one for a few monies then ill be making one myself.

You can buy the proper tools from Audi or directly from the manufacturer Matra (which I did).

They are REQUIRED by an EU Directive to make available to independents any tools essential for maintaining their vehicles.

Unfortunately not all of us can afford to buy the proper tool. I can pretty much make one for free if I have all the dimensions so why waste money in my opinion.

mine could have been better looking if I had the right diameter pipe to fit in the pulley, had to beef up one side of it now.
When you say yours couldv'e been better do you mean the diameter of the pipe? Did you use 60mm or did you used smaller, hense you had to "beef it up"?

Also what is the depth of the pipe please?

    Cheers
