    old topic im sorry, diff lock speed limiter

    can someone please give me clear instructions how to stop the speed controller kicking in when the diff lock is pressed.

    my confusion comes from ive seen some pics of people cuttin a blue and white wire under the switch itself, which seems to make one of my wheels lock up and then when i read on i see people talking about the wiring under the rear seats

    anybody know which wires i need to locate and what to do with them

    many thanks reilly

                    You can just add in a normal diff lock from UrS4, I did that on my car.

                      As blackrat says, I'd be keen to know also.

                      Thanks.

                        The locking diff is not designed to work over 25mph so cutting the blue and white wire and then activating the diff lock over 25 mph might break it!

                          Yeah, the con is that you have to remember to turn it off yourself!

                          Obviously you might want to leave it on on snow/ice, but it'll ****** it on tarmac.

                            Pros;
                            You can have the diff locked at higher speeds, can be useful for climbing hills in snow at higher speeds.
                            It is easier to drive sideways if you so wish.

                            Cons
                            You have to disengage manually
                            If you have it on in the dry it will chew the tyres and have some interesting handling characteristics if trying to drive normally

                            Based on experience I doubt it will break if engaging/disengaging at higher speeds, however I would still advise locking and unlocking when stationary as it is much more sympathetic. The lock is a collar that is controlled by a fork which makes the collar slides over two sets of splines to lock both outputs.

                            If you want to lock and unlock at higher speeds lifting of the power (if accelerating, or use the throttle lightly if engine braking) momentarily will allow it lock instantly, otherwise it will take a while.

                            The lock itself it pretty beefy and one engaged is not going to brake.
