fuel pumps. . . Avant and Coupé

is thier a difference in these standard fuel pumps on the s2?

i just got off the phone to automark, he was asking what the car had done to it so he know what to expect for mapping, as we went on in convo i questioned him about getting and uprated fuel pump before i come to see him next thursday, his reply was "is it an avant or coupé?" i told him avant and he told me "you should get away without needing a fuel pump on the avant as its slightly better than the coupé as the car may need to use more power for its carry load"

    is this true anybody

    thanks reilly!

Of course, all Avant owners know Avants are better than Coupes, only Coupe owners don't know it / won't admit it.

And that's how the row started.

So....... the 230bhp avant was specified with a higher performance fuel pump than the 230bhp coupe - oh that makes sense

In reality I think the pump on avant/sedan is different because of tank layout etc but all the factory info I have says that both pumps flow the same.

RS2 Avant has higher spec pump than S2
Bosch 044 pump is higher spec again...

If you have a target power in mind it is easy to work out the fuel pump requirements.

Is it different? As far as I can tell, looking at ETKA info for 1994 A80Q, the fuel pump is 8A0906091G for the ABY, etc. with NO reference at all to sedan or avant. Point me in the right direction if I am wrong.

I know something was different - that hose arrangement rings a bell... or is it the basket. Sorry for confusion as I dont have the best girl KATE on this machine to keep me right. You need to look at ACOQ screens to be certain the actual pump is identical part.

I was helping somebody early today with an S2 coupe (3B) fuel pump issue and the fuel pump was the same 8A0906091G (same as my AAN C4 S4 pump).

From 1991 they are all the same, 7A, 3B, ABY, even the V6 models. Early 7A's and 10v motors have a different pump, much larger body, thats the basket we use for 044 pumps. Only car i have seen with a different pump was a 2.0 16v avant, fuel tank and moutings inside were also different. I posted a few pics of the two different baskets and 044 fitment here http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44643

My 20V 7A coupe uses the same fuel pump as my 20VT AAN Sedan.

What I found this morning was the 7A CQs after 1990 used the 091G (like your C4 AAN). The breakpoint was the M 000001 VINs and beyond.

The 091G is getting to or at being maxxed out by 380 crank so the 044 is the safer bet IF you are really going to have that much HP and are not just dreaming about it.
