    Holy Carp (Bike Insurance)

So I just got my bike insurance renewal through today. Same price as last year - I guess the price increases over the last year are equal to 1 year's extra age / no claims.

    Old company wanted: £850.

I just ran it through GoCompare (using last year's quote as a template, so nothing changed except NCB). Lowest quote: £130.

Now it's common knowledge that you never get the cheapest quote on renewal, but £720 difference?!

Anyway - posted as a warning to anyone considering accepting their renewal on the basis that it'll "only be a little bit more"!

Yeah, it's weird how sometimes you can't beat a renewal, but other times you can by miles.

I'm with Motorcycle Direct at the moment (underwritten by AXA). They came up cheapest last year.

The bike is a BMW R1200 GS.

I have been with Carole Nash previously and thought about getting car + bike with them... they offered a discount on the car if I renewed the bike... but then ran a mile when I mentioned "Audi S..."

I have found big differences in insurance companys over the last 5 years of bike ownership. I always ring around for the best quote I can get then go back to my original insurer and tell them to better it lol.

I've got my Ducati 900SSie and my Ducati 999 both on the same policy through Adrian Flux. I saved about £300 compared to insuring each bike individually.
As I already had two vehicles with them. they did me a smashing deal on my Mach1 Motorsport kit car running a Fireblade 929 motor. It only cost me £275 fully comp with protected no claims. That was about £100 cheaper than anyone else was quoting.
