posted this up on Classicaudi but thought I'd share here...
.... Our kids school decided it was time they kept chickens... As they do...
So they buy a really posh chicken coup, with a nice run... Lovely.... And they put it in the school 'quiet' garden, (
like, chickens a quiet), anyway, the day comes when eight hand reared chickens arrive, all used to 'petting' and generally 'good eggs' (excuse the pun)...
They are lovingly tucked up in bed that afternoon and the children all say 'goodnight' to said bait... The person charged with making sure all goes well is Mrs Tang... (She runs the local Chinese Takaway with her husband... No, seriously... I kid you not)...
Anyways... The next morning something's clearly gone 'fox' shaped in the morning and the children are told at assembly that the new arrivals have had to 'pop' to the vets for a bit...
Well, I say's fox, and the girls (being quite used to the idea of 'food chains'), go marching into school and start the rumour subterfuge, it's not the vet's it the local fox... This clearly upsets many and the school comes clean, it was the fox, then announces that Mrs Tang is to be given a second chance to look after the next batch of eight 'No 16's' to arrive with egg fried rice....

It's a complete pantomime.
