F1 next year BBC & Sky.

Just seen on Pistonheads that Sky and BBC are to do half and half with races.

Looks like I'll be just watching BBC.
No way am I paying for Sky

Not quite correct the full season is on sky and only half on BBC and the other half highlights

I don't see all the fuss with the amount of money the BBC rake in from the rip-off tv license they could afford to have bought the total rights, i'll watch it on sky with the other sports

I've held off going with Sky, freesat does me just fine and I still get to watch the F1 in HD. Pretty pissed off tbh as I already pay TV license and it was nice to feel for once that it was worth it!

Sky have always been very ambiguous with their 'deals' when I've tried to sign up usually with the monthly starting off at ~ÂŁ50 with BB and phone and a good HD TV package - and then at point of setting it up I'm informed it'll be ~ÂŁ70. I just gave up.

I guess I'll have another chat with them when my latest BT contract ends in the spring...

And just as BBC start to make the F1 coverage pretty decent and the racing is getting more interesting...

Not being into football or cricket, what other sports do sky have to entice me to pay an extra ÂŁ20 on top of the money I already pay?

IIRC, there's 10 pin bowling and various pool tournaments on there with 'Romford Slim'

Hmm bllcks... So BBC is changing the broadcasting scheme? I kinda liked the current format.
We do have a Dutch alternative, but it sucks *** with commercials every 15m for 5m long and having a huge set of ***** trying to do the live coverage...
I mind you not, but the technical/driver background of Coulthard and Brundle do contribute to the high quality of the BBC report during the race. You wouldn't notice it if you didn't knew how bad it can be after watching the Dutch version...

                  It's a fekkin' travesty!

Now we will have to pay for some inferior numpty football commentator to rabbit on about something he knows nowt about and then endure commercial breaks aver 5 minutes

Is there seriously anyone in the known universe that would rather watch Sky over the current BBC set-up?

Whatever Sky charge, I would pay double to keep the BBC

Brilliant! What do we pay our licence fee for?

200 reporters to cover the "1 year until the olympics story" and 400 to go to Glastonbury. Money well spent.

                    What a bunch of :corey:

                        Well, that's that then...

Another avenue of pleasure closed... I've got a low boredom threshold with motor racing... If it's live I haven't got the option of just looking at the F1 website to find out the result...

Next year, 50% of the races, I'll have that option... So will probably just go straight there, and save an hour and a half's worth of time... And if I don't get fired up or keep up with the season from the off, I lose the plot with it, so don't bother watching any of it....

And that's a distinct possibility too...

It's their loss really, not mine...
