Differences of B4 Avants inc s/rs2 ?

Visualy what are the diferences of the B4 Avant ranges?

from base models, to S2 and RS2 please

looked in the usual places but nothing really helps

like A4 B5`s sideskirts and different door weather strips, silly things like that
Actual doors are different on A4 RS models also

regular B4 -> S2 Avant: front and rear bumpers, sil covers, front lights, 5x112 wheel bolts.

RS2: front/rear bumpers, rear hatch centre panel, sils, lower door strips, centre door strips(?), mirrors, headlights, front grille, foglights, indicators in the bumper.

David my B4 dag dag already has S2 bumpers/trim and SQ steering wheel and i might put 5 stud hubs on when it gets A4 back end and AAT diesel motor.

REALLY not keen on RS2 front bumpers but love the rest of the body kit parts.

someone mentioned trims under headlamps also different on RS2, why is this?

i love white S2 avants and my dag dag is white, just need some skirts then

does that mean the door bottom weather strips are different? mine are missing/nackered so need swopping anyway.

To fit the bumper - check out the RS2 America thread - I think I saw an explanation and pic's there.

The aerial base is 60 degrees on RS2, and 45 on basic Avants. On my '94 S2 it is 60, but i thought it should be 45 ?

Basic avants have black doorgrips and trim.

Do you need info about the cabin? Engine compartment?

gear knob white dials with a slightly higher MPH also black rings around clocks. door mirrors. sweat seats (although was an option on s2) brakes wheels. 1st gear. water hoses + pump. oil sprays under pistons ( i think the s2 dot might be wrong) black paint on rear window metal bits. injectors inlet exhaust+cams.

for a day dawg in white, I think the following could be your list.

List presupposes that there is a reasonably limited budget, it is not the main "queen bee car", it is a daily, it shouldn't be so good you're scared to use it on a wet day, it is not going for concours.

So here's the suggested list;

S2 front and rear bumpers sprayed white with the S2 black lower half.

S2 black lower sills.

Front hubs changed to five stud S2 hubs. You will need to fiddle around with driveshafts and CV's to get them to mate up. Read Jas11n's Sooty thread for more detail.

Fit small reds on brackets with 312mm discs.

Use 16" S2 Avus rims.

Early B5 A4 fwd rear hubs will covert an B4 Avant fwd to five stud cheaply by sourcing the two discs in the breakers. If changing the day dawg B4 Avant to 4wd, then use a dead S2 Avant's rear hubs or an B5 A4 1.8Ts rear hubs.

Spray the two mirrors white as well as the four door handles, unless you can find a white v6 Avant in the breakers.

Change the headlights to S2 ellipsoids, fit HID's also. Definitely do not concern yourself with the subtle difference in the under head light on a day dawg.

Change the Steering wheel to an airbag one similar to a late ABY Avant. This style of steering wheel is on a lot of different Audi of the same vintage, (don't stress about the detail in the small badge in the wheel).

Put in a boost gauge.

Take out the four chrome door pull handles and get them sandblasted and powder coated in black satin or gloss, (my favourite low cost mod to a non RS2 B4).

Change the two front seats to oem sports seats from a urS4, see what Dest did, or some decent after market discrete bucket seats that you can still get in and out of easily and that the factory seat belts still work with. Sport ones out of a late model B4 Cabrio would be nice.

Aero wiper arms and blades, or just new original style blades on the original wiper arms, but an inch or two longer than standard, same goes for the rear wiper.

Lowered springs and shocks, while still maintaing normal oem levels of comfort.

S2 or RS2 ARBs front, back dependent on whether fwd or rwd.

Leave the main clocks black, but fit the three black aux gauges from a V6.

Change the rear box's exhaust pipes to look less diesel in appearance.

Fit electric front windows, if you done all of the above.

As you see, a lot of work and a lot of money if all of the list was to be adhered to. I didn't mention the interior head cloth dyed black, and the grab handles, sunvisors and the A, B, C, and D pillars sprayed black. Dash, Doorcards, and Carpet changed to a black ones.

I'm feeling tired and broke just reading this list, which I know could be expanded a bit further.

Show the photos of the car now before it is changed?

Its already sporting:
S2 bumpers, S2 trim, SQ Nardi steering wheel ( ! ) dropped on its belly, german plates, erm not sure on skirts will have to go check

hubs will be upgraded when i do the Quattro conversion and lights are being looked into as we speak, bumper is missing fogs and indicators though..... how expensive are they! WOW lol

car is rough as a badgers **** and full of dints, suspect vandal damage.

Also been de-badged and de-wipered, exhaust getting attacked on monday when im back at my garage, will give the £260 Dag a good checking over then, oh and an mot lol

If your not oem fussy for a day dawg, you could try ebay for spurious fogs and indicators?

Quattro in the b4 tdi? hmm you'd need to uprate the engine as the car is down on power as it is!
