    Insurance Renewal

The s2 is due for it's insurance renewal in a few weeks and i figured i'd get ontop of it this year and do some research.

It's currently off the road, has been in the garage for a couple of months, and will be for another month. When it's released back into the wild it will have far more mods than it did before, producing far more power.

I'm currently insured with Adrian Flux, but i feel like i'm being raped with what i pay - not that i'm expecting my insurance to go down and certainly not with all the mods i'm in the process of adding.

So, who are the recommended people to talk to? Obviously flux will give me a renewal price, and i'll have to update them on the spec, but there must be others who are good to speak with who deal with highly modified classic cars?

Is yours modified at all? I don't think mine will get on a classic being so heavily modified.

Some classic policies allow more modifications that others. For instance, Lancaster you can add cylinder head work, uprated brakes, suspension, minor aesthetic mods etc on a tick-box system with very little impact to the premium. Yours are a little more extreme than that though...

Probably worth giving Admiral a bell and asking about a Multicar, when Direct Line were playing silly ******s with the scooby price I saved shedloads by moving to them, even with the fact that they consider the PPP as all its separate components they were still blinking cheap. The quote I got for both cars with them were better then all the quotes I got for the scooby on it's own!

Not sure when the Clio is up but they usually let you start a Multicar policy with one car and then bring the other one in at renewal.

Clio is on the same date, but last year and the year before no-one would touch both cars e.g. flux would do the s2, but admiral would not touch the s2 with all its mods.

...which is just how I felt when the policy they mis-sold me didn't cover the vast array of delcared mods on the car despite what their sales team advised me. My fault for not reading the reams of small print and picking up on their bu11$hit, aparrently :corey:

Go with the cheapest quote you can get, and consider yourself somewhat 'self insured' with the mods. That's the route I went - admiral, elephant all the way - and saved thousands over the past 4 years.

Agree with the above, not sure about modified but i got a good deal with elephant and then admiral when i got a second car. one with 0 no claims and one with 1 years as well so should have been v expensive

Hi guys, just to add. I use two different companies between my cars. Footman James and Chris Knott. Both do classic car policies also. Footman James include full European breakdown cover in their policies and CK give you options of none, UK only or full Europe.
Worth a go guys, I pay £101.20 for my Scirocco 12 month fully comp with agreed valuation and full Euro breakdown cover.

Now, to narrow it down further, which ones allow use on the Nurburgring?

Good question! I go to the Ring every year in the Rocco and fortunately never had any problems, but I don't think either will cover track days - although I haven't actually asked...
