    Pre Purchase Advisories B5 S4 Avant Question

    I've just had an inspection done on a 2000 B5 S4 and it came back fine, bar two advisories. Namely;

    o/s/f upper arm rubber boots showing signs of wear, keep an eye on,

    and

    centre exhaust sleeve has started to corrode.

    Can someone tell me what kind've cost/work etc required to remedy these, in light of using as a bargining chip before handing over the cash.

    Many thanks
    Iain

    The front arms can get expensive. If one is worn chances are the others aren't far behind. you can kiss good bye to £500+ if you need to replace those. Exhausts areeasy to come by, but you probably want to find a price for an OE one if you are bargaining. Its won't be cheap. I'd try knocking a grand off for both issues

    Dest is probably your man for S4 information on here, or there is a really big B5 following on AudiSRS

            Iain,

            Delighted to see another person on the forum so close to this neck of the woods.

            Regarding your query, I'm thinking that your forum's name, while subtle, may be more apt than your realise.

            If you're asking how much these two items cost to remedy, I would feel that you are not able to do the work yourself, and therefore unless the car turns out to be lucky for you in terms of maintenance, the maintenance costs could become too much of a financial drag.

            Having said that it could be more reliable than an S2, as it is a newer car.

            Whatever you buy, post photos.

            As already said, others forum will be more familiar with a B5.

            Welcome btw though.
