    smoke!!!

i got my s2 starting again today, but lot of white smoke, or steam, the car had new headgasket done and only covered about 20 miles when it went out of timeing, bottom pully cog sheered,so sorted it, and now this!! havent driven it yet as we still putting it together,
    SOME HISTORY
when headgasket went first i was told my [mecanic[ it was fine and he just poured some stuff into system to seal it!!:corey ,so i got another who done a job on gasket ect, and then timing sliped , so now we have that sorted! car has only covered 500 miles in passed 5 years, idle for up to a year at times, it has a dump valve, and blitz booster fitted, which id love to get taken out again as i think these may be cause of orginal fail??? so,would it be antifreeze still in system from the head gasket fail that causing smoke? and it has 3in straigh pipe with only the back box, appricate yer advice lads, rgd mick

If there is no loss in the water header tank it could just be moisture in the exhaust. When the head gasket went did it go in a cyclinder or did it mix with the oil in a oil channel?? Remove the plugs and see if any are wet with water? Does the header tank pressurize when you have the engine running? Need a few more details BUT pooring gasket seal into an engine with a big crack in the head or gasket wont fix it as you found. Was there any cracks in the head?

      Just shotgunning it here..

You said you were getting 150psi from each cylinder from compression test? Wet + dry?

Is the petrol still the original petrol? Could water have gotten into the petrol?
Do you have a fuel leak, are you loosing pressure on the fuel line from tank to engine bay?
Is there water in the oil, oil in the water?
Does it behave the same way lumpy idle if the Idle valve is disconnected? Could be sticky ?

Also have you the gear to get error codes?
