    ABY Coupe-S2 saloon-what other parts?

Starting with an ABY coupe and a b4 80 v6 quattro what other parts would be required to make an s2 saloon?

    Avant rear bumper
    Avant sideskirts
    Battery tray in boot

Are the rear drive shafts the same? (would the diff flanges need swapped?)
Is the rear suspension the same? (shock diameter etc)

Rear suspension and drivetrain are all different - you'll need to get the parts off a donor Avant

If you are using the aby box I believe you will have to fit a rear diff from an s2 avant as the final drive on a v6 is 3:89 or similar (aby is 4:11)

If I read correctly he has a 80 quattro B4 and the running gear from a ABY Coupe to fit to it.

it depends how authentic the saloon is going to be but the rear suspension will not need to be changed. Just the 5 stud hubs will need swapped over

          Suspension

          Hi mate

Soeey my long twisty way of saying

On my Audi 80 Avant Quattro, i found the following

The front bearing housings will accept the S2 hubs......wheel bearing the same, at the rear i used the S2 Avant rear hubs( wbearings the same as S2) they mated to the V6 shafts with no issues........I will be lowing her 40 mm all round later

Body wise i say you need the bumpers at rear from S2 Avant.......your ABY front bumper, Avant side skirts( nice water traps)

And someone to swop over your engine mounts ..............alittle welding then you sorted( after changing engine looms , battery boxs etc) etc

          AND PLEASE photo your progress......................
          Cheers
          John

Rusty is right, the coupe is very different from the A-pillar back.

If it was me I'd start with an S2 avant and a B4q saloon, then you have everything you need - simples.
Plus avants are cheaper than coupes at the minute.. until they run out

                        Between the b4 80q and the s2 avant/saloon?

Cheers, I had forgot about that, would the s2 rear diff fit in the 80 casing if the crown wheel was swapped?

                        Hey Mate

That is good to know about the driveshafts, I would just cut the mounts out the aby and weld them in, hopefully and battery box could be cut out the firewall in one piece for the boot.

The v6 subframe could be modded easily enough.

It is just sounding out the idea at the moment, and very helpful getting things pointed out now. I will get the coupe in for a MOT first and see what the engine and box is like. An avant would be better but I have a coupe!

                          Plan would be;
swap basically everything at the front end from the ABY coupe on the 80
                          hybrid the prop
swap diff rear internals if possible
                          swap rear hubs
ghetto weld the exhaust up from the two cars

Then buy the s2 avant bumper etc when they come up for sale.

djh-What is the difference between the 80q and s2 saloon dash and also the rear seats?

Its the crown wheel and pinion ratio that is different in the V6 gearbox and diffs
