Thinking of getting a Transporter T5, any tips?

I am looking at a T5 tomorrow, its a '06 2.5Tdi Auto AXD engined, anyone have experience of this type of van, and any particular issues to check?
I have been using a Vanette cargo for the last 10 years, and would like to go VAG.

    Cheers
    Eric

Yeh don't buy a 2.5tdi is my advice. I have a t4 with that engine and it is a pig to work on and you can't see anything and it's always broken!

              The T4 2.5 TDi is a differnent engine to the T5 2.5TDi

my T4 2.5 TDi has done close to 60k since may last year and no problems.....i replaced every belt and pulley on it when i bought it and do oil change every 6k and full service every other 10k i've never had a problem with it, it had 122k on it when i bought it

The T5 2.5 TDi can give bother with higher mileage but again its not happening to all of them, depends on how it was treated in earlier time. If it was me i'd go for 1.9TDi in the T5

Haha cheers bud but I have had 1 cuppa char all day n I'm freezing. Limp mode is not my friend. Vagcom gives a generic code so I'm being systematic. When I got it I did all belts n pumps and filters and plugs so it's all good apart from this so now it's had pretty much all new hoses, all sensors and full exhaust so now it's driving me insane. I think the only thing I haven't done is change the block and bores haha. All aside I understand they are different from the engine codes but choose wisely as they are expensive and a pita to fix when they break. I'm lucky my mates are mechanics so I am learning and doing myself

Thanks guys, gona check out that forum.

It is a low mileage one, but will know more once I see it. Cannot be heavier than the Vanette on diesel ..

My dad has a 08 t5 LWB 2.5tdi Auto with 80k on it. Recently spent tons getting it camper converted. Its a lovely van. 2.5tdi engine is really nice, pulls it along like its a car. Auto box is amazing, one of the best i have driven. Seamless and plenty of gears (6 speed i think). My dad had his Revo mapped and it puts plenty of cars to shame off the lights! hehe. Dont expect much more than 30mpg though! Like mentioned before the access for engine work is a pig, but great vans imho.
