    Ticking noise on idle ??

My ABY Coupe has developed a ticking noise on idle.

It sounds like it's coming from inside the driver's side front wing, just forward of the door, and stops when I blip the throttle, but then returns when the engine drops back to idle.

Doesn't do it all the time either but there is no obvious pattern to it.

Does anyone know what it could be ?

Is it something I need to worry about ??!!!

    Cheers,

    Martin

I would guess it is part of the charcoal canister system has sprung a leak.

It is possible to remove it all as its not really required.

To check if it is this that is making the noise. Unplug the blue unit at the back of the cylinder head that is part of the PCV system to see if this stops the ticking.

Environmentally, it is a bad idea to remove the evaporative emissions control system.

The "blue unit" at the back of the cylinder head is very likely the N80 Evaporative emissions valve, not part of the PCV system.

Yes but that would sound worse above idle.
