    NURBURGRING TRIP 11 - 13th May 2012

Hey Guys, thought I'd just post up my delight in having booked a family trip to the "NURBURGRING" for 3 days in May later this year.

The above dates are provisional Public Days as per www.bridgetogantry.com

This will be my third trip across - it's been 6 years since I last went. It's going to be a family trip with a few laps round the "Ring" - my 10 year old son is so excited!!!!

We'll be doing some spectatoring and tourist travelling around the area - keep the wife happy!

Staying at the Blaue Ecke Hotel, Adenau - again this will be my 3rd time there - I really like this place - old and new combined - looking forward to having an Italian down the road at Pinnocchio's Pizzeria!

If anyone else is planning a trip around this time, please feel free to shout up - we could possibly convoy or meet up, etc.

    The Itineray is as follows:-

Weds 9/5 - 1 Night Stay at Premier Inn - Folkestone(Channel Tunnel) 1/2 mile from Tunnel - Family Room excl breakfast - £60.00

Thursday 10/5 - Channel Tunnel (Short Stay Saver Fare - up to 5 days)
    Crossing to Calais -
    Dep (local Time)
    Check-in closes - 0820 hrs
    Departure - 0850 hrs
Arrival time - 1025 hrs (1hr diff on Continent)

    Cost £47.00

Travel to Adenau - taking the quick route (E40 majority of way)

Accommodation: Blaue Ecke Hotel, Nurburgring hotel:bluaeecke.de
    Arrival: 10/5
    Depart: 14/5

2 Double Room Classic (New part of Hotel)

Room Rate / Breakfast: per person
    93.00 Euros / 8.50 Euros

    Total: 744.00 Euros (excl breakfast)
    Exchange Rate: £600.00 approx

Monday 14/5 - Check out from Blaue Ecke Hotel Adenau, travel back to Calais - catch Channel Tunnel crossing.

    Crossing to Folkestone -
    Dep (local Time)
    Check-in closes - 1620 hrs
    Departure - 1650 hrs
Arrival time - 1625 hrs (1hr diff back in UK)

    Cost £47.00

We haven't decided excatly how we're going to divide our time up - I should imagine we'll visit the museum at the GP Circuit, perhaps have a go at Carting, trip to the Eifel National Park, - but of course but some laps in on the Circuit (albeit I won't be racing)

    Can't wait!!!

If it's been 6 years since you last went, you are in for a shock. Things have changed, and not for the better IMHO.
For a start a lap ticket will cost you more than £10.
The museum and karting shed have been demolished and replaced by the "NüroDisney" ghost town.

BTW, if you like Italian food, then check out La Fontana in Adenau. It is just a minutes extra walk up Alte Poststraße from Pinoccio, but worth it, unless you really want one of those Ubergroßpizzas. They also do the Argentinian steaks there too, like the ones people seem to go for at that place they call a restaurant, Pistonklause.

I can imagine it's become even more touristy! Been reviewing the website and can see theres been changes. Lap prices are getting steep. I remember £11 laps. It should be fun and am actually looking forward to doing the family bit!

Thanks for the tip on alternative places to eat in Adenau - wifey will be pleased.
