    Urgent Help needed Leeds/Bradford area

    Hello People

    MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY

I have travelled up to Bradford today as I am working on a job in the town centre.

As I came off the 62 I had a heart stopping moment when the brakes on my transporter almost failed.

On inspection the front pads found to be completely gone, yes I know I should have checked them

The plan is to Collect a set of front pads from GSF Bradford in the morning.

Now, the guy I brought my S2 off happens to be the manager at National Tyres on Canal road in Bradford, well he was in 2006. He asked me to pop in and see him if was ever in the area. Ill give him a call in the morning and see if he will fit them for a drink.

"Why don't you fit them yourself" I hear you say? Well, the Transporter dose not have a jack or a wheel brace on board. Was like that when I brought it and I've not got round to replacing them, it;s only been 6 months

I gave up paying garages to work on my vehicles many years ago and I really don't want to start now.

So if plan "A" dose not work are there any forum members in the area that can lend me a jack and wheel brace for 1/2 an hour at any time tomorrow for some beer money?

The van can be driven, slowly using a lot of care and a little faith so I will come to you.

    Thanks in advance

Funny how lack of maintenance and procrastination suddenly turns into an urgent call for help.

I've never had to do that.

    Hope you get it sorted.

Or just drive to a motor factors and buy and jack and wheel brace, you need them anyway. Plus you could get some copper grease and a file and do proper job.

Please don't tell me you have a locking wheel bolt set fitted but no key, see it often at work, that would really suck.

Its fiddly but.....................Push the calipers back then get the bread from your sandwiches and replace both sets of pads and use the hand brake as much as possible driving slowly

I'm about 5 mile away - very welcome to pitch up and get your hands dirty

I won't be back until about 6pm tonight - bit earlier tomorrow, about 3pm Wednesday.

            Cheers guys.

All sorted now. Ash the former owner of my car and manager of national tyres Bradford has sorted it for me, on the promise I send him a load of photos of my car as he misses it big style

Turns out the pads were not worn as such but one of the friction faces had completely come away from the metal backing and disintegrated. That explains why the peddle dropped to the floor. Not nice at 60 Mph, I'm glad the slip road was empty.
            Cheers
