Sorry to hear that Andy, same happened to me two years ago. Think positive, fresh start, new job/career and people to work with, even the different drive to work is a refreshing change from the monotony of daily life, especially if you have worked in the same place for 12 years (8 for me). I know what you mean by the empty feeling, then i realized that was actually the lack of constant stress/worry looking after an IT infrastructure 24/7. Dont miss that at all

Sorry to hear that mate. That's really bad considdering how much time you have put in there. Did they give you a nice pay out? Like 1 week wages for evey year you worked?

thanks for the positive comments guys,i know im not the first or last for this to of happened to
hindsight is a lovely thing and funnily enough the last couple of weeks at work have been great,the boss completely laid back etc...wonder why now
luckily after 12 years yes i did get a decent payout,so if i do go straight into work it'll be a nice bonus!

Trouble is dont know what to do,desparate to work with cars,i have emailed a cv to my local audi dealership(wouldn it be nice if they took someone on who knew the difference between an s2 and an a2 lol) in the hope that sales have something,also thought about car hire and even setting up myself a little unit to repair/break cars...i could be the next audibits!

Well im sorry to hear this but look into setting up on your own. The rewards will take their time to be worthwhile but im fairly sure a few of us on here would support you with custom if it happens.

had the same end of 2010. took me 10 months to find work again. it manager.

my s2 got smashed about 1 month before redundancy so i had less to think about sort of.
