Are all 500SLs convertibles with the folding hardtop? Or are any of them coupes?

All R129 SL's are convertibles.
Till 1994 they were sometimes purchased with the aluminum hardtop but after 1994 they came as standard with the car.
Just one .02$ of advice here if you're considering to buy one that has no hardtop roof, each hardtop roof was "matched" to the car it was ordered with by using subtle adjustments to make the hardtop fit perfectly so the hardtops aren't necessarily interchangeable.
Also make sure that it fits without problem and that the electro-hydraulic roof system of the car clamps the convertible and hardtop roofs down and up properly and securely. It's a fully automatic "one button" system so if anything doesn't work perfectly, walk away
